DKNY not? LCM SS15

There's something a little Korean boyband or Japanese streetstyle about this outing from DKNY. The looks are polished and ultimately very cool but the boat is not being pushed too far from the harbour, comfort zones remain largely unchallenged.

I often see men's collections are more like art, less practical and restrained by the buyer but the intention is, of course, to sell as much as to intrigue. And I think that this collection will do just that, sell. There's an ease and stylish nonchalance to it all that many hunger for, men especially. Hell, I'd gladly accept most of it into my own wardrobe.

It's interesting to note the sport and nineties influences favoured in recent seasons by the house are still present but in elements of styling or adopted less literally. The whole thing is an accomplished balance of innovation and elegance.

When did DKNY get so cool?

Like, seriously.

It's always been the younger, cooler Donna Karan diffusion line but they've really stepped it up a notch. It-Girl and name on everyone's lips, Cara Delvingne is the current campaign girl and their A/W 2013-4 collection is so New York, so modern and impossibly cool. It's been described as an on-point reworking of nineties grunge and sport shapes with playful use of colour. The styling, however, is perfect and makes it particularly relevant to today; sleek, unassuming, unfussy and expertly layered. Expect this to be seen all over the streets next Autumn.

Supersize it, please.

By which I mean: supersize my outerwear, please.

I may or may not have noted here before, the trend of moving from body clinging to skimming in the industry. Already, I'm somewhat of a convert from skinny to boyfriend jeans. This trend is something I can really get behind - I've never really been a fan of bandage dresses or discomfort. I like a little room to breathe, thank you very much. An extension of this is huge outerwear. I'm somewhat of a coat fiend (I blame my mother - her collection is insane) and these hut-like garments that can be snuggled inside are majorly appealing to me. As a teenager I was crazy for thinner coats and jumpers because I was terrified baggier clothing would make me look fat. Since then I've embraced layers and with many of the giant coats that were on the runways for next season, no one could ever mistake their volume for fat - the difference in size between them and your face or arms is too obvious. Another point in their favour is the drama factor; sweeping into a room or down the street in a giant coat makes a statement.

But anyway, here's a round-up of some of my favourites!

Bombers.

The bomber. Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more versatile - can be worn elegant or urban and young. Thou art more varied - from print to block colours, from hip-length to full, from jacket to dress. Thou art lovely when worn on a summer's day or in the depths of coldest winter.

Have a gawk. These are some lovelies. Clearly. Inspired my faux-try above.

But I really do love a bomber.
