But, for real though, Skunkfunk is awesome because they try and promote sustainability in design and in their practices. They transport over 95% of their goods by boat in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint, promote transparency in the sources of garments and use recycled materials where possible in packaging and in their clothes themselves. Fabrics such as recycled polyester, organic cotton, linen (which is a renewable natural fibre found in the flax plant, a fast and easy growing herb) and lyocell (made from cellulose originating from eucalyptus wood, using a sustainable close-loop process).
And, in local stores, you can bring ten (clean) items of clothing in for recycling and exchange them for €5.00 store credit. So, if you have your eye on something and have clothes you were going to throw away, this is a way better option - for your wallet and the earth!
As for their SS15 collection, expect lots of colour and prints but with an elegant twist. Everything remains somewhat loose and casual-fitting with a sense of ease about it. There are lots of dresses to choose from for a variety of events and levels of formality, as well as stand-out separates. A definite spring-summer vibe is present but, as always, the brand ensures that nothing is so on trend as to become obsolete in a season. These are clothes to transcend seasons and trends and to last beyond today. The Skunkfunk woman is feminine and vibrant and willing to try something new. She's a little practical but undeniably fun.
If this sounds up your alley, pop by their Blooms Lane store and check it out for yourself! The Dublin store is also home to Smash, another Spanish brand with a similar design aesthetic and ethical concerns, so there's plenty to choose from.
