Jil Sander S/S 2013

Cool.

Ease.

Simplicity.

Menswear influence.

Sex Appeal.

All of the above could be used to describe the S/S 2013 Jil Sander collection.

So, it's a little bit exactly what you'd expect from a Jil Sander collection but it's still uber-gorgeous. The palette from A/W is referenced with more splashes of white to make it more summery but the coherence is kind of wonderful and those cherry reds, dusky pinks and burgundy shades are just perfect. I really adore those colours so I'm glad they've been used once more. The navy menswear inspired looks are important highlights in my eyes, as are the coats and suit alternatives/coordinates/suits (as per for Jil Sander) while a couple of the dresses just aren't doing it for me. A little on the sack side of things. In the dresses that get it right there's an accentuating of hips and skimming of the body thing going on that I'm totally feeling.Their models are the best as always, the styling is so on point and the hair and makeup is laid back and refreshing. Overall, a solid, unsurprising but beautiful collection.

The pictures are a selection of backstage shots and my favourite looks and are from vogue.co.uk. You should totally check out their new(ish) layout - it's awesome and especially fantastic for viewing shows.

I'm quite the brogue.

One of my favourite outfits of late. I wore it a few days ago and think I didn't post it at the time because I had already done a post on something else that day. Don't want to go over-board and spam everyone like I did at the start of the summer when I had too much free time on my hands!

There's a lot I like here; blue tones, simplicity, modernity, menswear inspiration and ease. And I do love clothes that make life easy. Hot as pencil skirts and the like are, they don't promote the amount of movement that somehow ends up in my daily life despite being ridiculously lazy. And these brogues and blazer are two of my favourite items in my wardrobe/best buys ever so combining them is always great.

Keep it simple.

Messing around with flashes and shadows today. I find shadows endlessly fascinating! Pretty simple outfit and I've come to the conclusion that bold simplicity is my thing, much as I admire other aesthetics. I just feel that this is the best fit for me. I like clean lines in an outfit and solid basics that can be added to and built upon if I end up doing something other than messing about the house. Besides, I climb things and run around too often for anything overly fussy. Saying that, however, I could be wearing anything tomorrow! Wouldn't be the first time I spent a research day in an evening gown...

Friday the Thirteenth....

...and no real disaster befell me. Quite a nice day, in fact. Sure, I had to get up before ten in the morning (I know, I'm a lazy, terrible person) but it kinda went uphill from there. Shopped in Dublin and tramped all over the city with Mammy and my sister, had lunch out, got free money from Mammy, had cake and tea, bought more cake, helped Dad move and build furniture, had tea and cake again, scored one of Dad's old Aran jumpers, po-goed, go-carted, punned and hung out with my bro. To do all this in warmish, showery weather I went for my uber-reliable and practical Docs, a loose t-shirt dress in cream (which was lovely and airy when I got too warm), my trusty vintage cream blazer and thick-knit tights for warmth and rain protection - simplistic, functional, easy and chic and with a touch of Alexander Wang-esque sportiness.

Meg Myers - Just plain adorable.

There's a simplicity here, a desire to dress the form and be more than a clothes horse. Meg Myers is not only a talented musician and song-writer but someone who knows how to dress their own body and not the one we might want but the one we actually have. Which, I suppose is easier when you're cute as a button. But still, my point remains. There's nothing overly complicated here, just good, solid choices; luxurious knitwear, cute boots, great jeans, loose tops. She actually kind of dresses like my flat-mate who is also uber-cute and musical. (Guess that proves my point that said flat-mate is well-dressed, despite what a certain rude Texan might have to say about it...) But back to Meg - proof that complicated isn't always better.
