Hedi over heels yet again...

Controversial as his leadership of (Yves) Saint Laurent has been to some, there's no denying that he takes a good photo and has a talent for spotting melancholic, moody beauties. Black and white, against simple backdrops and without any real fan-fare and, yet, captivating. An immediately discernible aesthetic. I, for one, am a major fan of what he's doing for that grand house. I think infusing it with youth and the energy of artists and musicians does fantastic things for everyone involved and I think few could fuse rock and roll and luxury so seamlessly, in a manner that miraculously doesn't seem contrived. The politics of access and revolution or invention are a debate for another place and head space because tonight all I want to do is adoringly gaze over the latest images for the Psych Rock collection in awe. Boho's never been my thing...but damn am I starting to wonder if there's an old school rock and roll hippy in me yet.

Shoes that glitter like stars...and some stripes

Found my anime of the summer (Saiunkoku Monogatari ). Thank Christ. While allowing a couple episodes to load, I decided to do some light household chores and finish cleaning up the painting job on the bathroom I did yesterday. I had originally decided to wear a very pretty sun-dress because, though it wasn't very sunny, it was quite warm today. Upon realisation of the amount of climbing ladders and washing floors I had ahead of me, I changed into the below outfit. All cotton, very airy and easy to move about in. Accessories bar the headband were abandoned for the day. I cracked out the sparkly shoes and set to work. Suddenly I realised that it was three o'clock and I'd been doing random chores for hours. How the hell did that happen?! I got a reprieve from helping out for the rest of the day though! And Sarah D came over for youtube hilarity. We're so funny.

I like the simplicity and limited palate of this outfit. There are really only three colours going on; blue, cream and silver. However, the mixing of textures (sparkles, cotton, the chiffon of the headband) and ideologies (naval inspiration, smart tapered pants, hippy hairpieces) created visual interest and added a sweetness and charm to an otherwise simple outfit. I also love me some stripes! This has to be one of my favourite outfits of late; minimal fuss, lots of adorableness!

This skirt sees some action!

I previewed a skirt that Mammy gave me the other day and now it finally escapes the closet for some action! It's so chic and pared back, yet still a statement piece, that I just wore it with some minimalist sandals and a white tank. Accessories were the area for colour; stacked bracelets, mis-matching earrings and a statement ring! But I refrained from adding any necklaces, didn't want to upset the balance between minimalism and hippy/tribal accessories.

Sadly, I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go...as per.
